Japanese car-maker Daihatsu said its sales in Indonesia surged 67.6 percent in 11 months ended November from the same period last year supported by its compact models.
Sales by local subsidiary PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) rose to 46,727 units from last year's 27,874 units, with small engine, seven-seat Xenia accounting for more than a half of total sales.
"With the achievement, our sale in the national markets climbed to some 12 percent," ADM marketing head Amelia Tjandra was quoted Wednesday by economic daily Bisnis Indonesia as saying.
The company can now expect a bigger markets share with new minibus model Grand Max already received some 4,500 orders prior to its launching.
